Meet our governors

Lisa Miller

Lisa has worked at Ashington Academy since 2005 undertaking various roles over the years. She is currently employed as a business officer, supporting the finance and human resource functions within the school. She became a staff governor in November 2017 when the school became part of the North East Learning Trust.

Originally from Scarborough, Lisa moved to the north east in 1991 to begin work at an accountancy firm in Newcastle. Leaving there in 1995, Lisa took a ten-year career break to bring up her three children. Her daughter is now 23 and working, her eldest son is in his final year at Newcastle University and her youngest son will be doing his GCSEs this summer.

Lisa is a keen climber and cyclist and always endeavours to get away during the holidays to enjoy these activities in sunnier climates. She has an adorable cocker spaniel and spends a lot of time walking him in Jesmond Dene and at the coast.

Lisa has always enjoyed working at Ashington Academy and is excited to see what the future holds now they are part of the North East Learning Trust.
