Frog’s primary goal is to facilitate students’ independent learning. Each subject taught at Ashington Academy has its own subject website with dedicated course pages. Course pages host a range of resources, interactive quizzes and revision guides. Subject websites are also available for parents to support their child in this process.
To further our students’ learning, staff issue timetabled homework tasks on the VLE, this allows parents to see any outstanding assignments. Staff also issue notifications with attached resources, meaning students won’t lose their homework guidance.
We also run a number of bespoke systems on our VLE, such as the LEAP system. The LEAP system encourages students to behave in a positive manner by rewarding them with LEAP points. Students can use these points to purchase rewards from our online store. Rewards include subsidised stationery; time-locked web browser games; vouchers for shops such as ASDA, Grainger Games and Debenhams; and an Amazon Kindle Fire HD.
FLAGS and ALERT systems record incidences of negative behaviour which may generate automated interventions, allowing the care and guidance faculty to monitor and deal with patterns of behaviour.
Frog hosts a positive discipline system which encompasses behavioural procedures and technological systems. Positive discipline aims to deliver transparent, clear and consistent behaviour management with high quality parental engagement, involvement and communication.
