7 Ashington Academy students were selected to represent East Northumberland in the County Cross Country event, held at Temple Park in South Shields last week. Stevey Hall, Jimi Thompson and Elliot Thompson from Year 7; Tom Balsdon from Year 10 and Joseph Bell, Harry Newton and Ethan Taylor from Year 11 competed against other students from across the county.
Tom Balsdon did exceptionally well, finishing in the top 8 in the U16 event, this enabled him to be selected to represent Northumberland in the next stages of the cross country championships, at Barnet Castle in February.
All students did extremely well and have done themselves proud. Well done to all runners involved!
