I am extremely privileged to lead a talented and dedicated team who know no bounds when it comes to the successes of our students. Our staff are committed to getting to know each child as an individual to ensure they are supported and challenged to bring out the very best of their abilities.
An ethos of high aspirations permeates everything we do and it’s little wonder that, since joining the North East Learning Trust in November 2017, our students have consistently improved results at GCSE and A level year on year, ensuring that, whatever their next steps are, they are well-prepared to take them. Increasing numbers of students are choosing to remain at Ashington and join our Sixth Form, NE6. Here, our ambitious curriculum boasts 25 different subjects and a bespoke careers programme using covering Apprenticeships, Universities, and everything in-between. Students also experience a range of opportunities outside of their studies to prepare them for life after school. By the time they leave us every student is confident and ready for their next steps, with record numbers of students joining prestigious Russell Group universities.
Your child deserves the very best and we firmly believe that we can provide it. Over the past three years, we have secured investments of nearly 2 million pounds to improve our learning environment, including first-class Art and Photography facilities, a new kitchen and dining hall, a Sixth Form Bistro, a refurbished Main Hall and our brand-new, top-spec catering kitchens for Food Technology. With new Science labs and further decorations planned, there’s so much more to come!
There is so much more to Ashington Academy than what happens in the classroom. We offer a rich extra-curricular programme that spans the arts, sport and the academic: there really is something for everyone, regardless of interest!
