Happy Safer Internet Day!

Ashington Academy joined the global Safer Internet Day campaign this week to promote the safe and responsible use of technology.

Coordinated in the UK, Safer Internet Day took place on Tuesday 6 February 2018 with the theme ‘Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you’.

Over the course of the week, Ashington Academy, held assemblies and safe internet lessons with all students.

Will Gardner, Director of the UK Safer Internet Centre and CEO of Childnet, said:

“Safer Internet Day is an opportunity for everyone across the UK and globally to unite for a better internet. Whether you are a young person, parent, carer, school or organisation, we can all take positive actions to make the internet a better place."

Mr Robinson, Vice Principal at Ashington Academy said,

“In today’s society of instant online access we must ensure that our children are aware of the dangers this can bring and how our young people can keep themselves safe when online”.
