A group of sixth form students have returned from an exciting five days in New York, learning about the American culture and education system.
Shortly after arrival, students were given a tour of the city in which the tour guide explained all about the city’s history and attractions. Visiting major tourist attractions such as the Empire State Building, 9/11 Memorial Museum, Times Square and Grand Central Station, students were amazed at the size of the buildings and how busy the city was.
Students also visited Sunset Park High School to speak to staff and students about the education system and life for young people in New York. New friendships were made and students from both schools are keeping in touch through social media. Following the school tour, students watched a game of basketball at Madison Square Garden.
On the final day, students enjoyed breakfast at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where they were entertained by future Broadway stars, followed by ice skating in Central Park.
Ms Bell, Mr Robinson, Mr Holliday and Miss Young, who accompanied the students, commented that all students conducted themselves impeccably, they were superb ambassadors for the school. The trip was a fantastic experience and one that no one will forget!
