This morning, we held a careers event for our Year 10-13 students to showcase the wide range of opportunities available to them after Ashington Academy.
There was a variety of providers in attendance, from local (and not so local) universities as well as those offering routes into finance, hair and beauty, catering and the chance to improve general employability skills.
This year’s fair was special as it was our first joint careers event with Bedlington Academy. Students from both campuses could chat with the same providers about prospective opportunities.
For our sixth form students, the careers fair was a chance to learn more about the world of universities, apprenticeships and work.
Year 10 students took the time to get an idea of the type of work/career they would be interested in, preparing them for their week of work experience in July.
Some of our sixth form students Marc, Shona and Sophie had a great time at the fair and said that it was “nice to see other students engaging and asking questions, that’s what makes the event fun.”
A big thank you to all the providers who attended, we hope all our students and parents had a great time. Hopefully you have taken away some information that can help greatly in the future choices you make.
