Year 7 reflections

Our new Year 7s are settling in nicely to school life at Ashington Academy.

We are so proud of how well they are doing in and out of the classroom and have been blown away by their efforts! We cannot wait to see them flourish here at Ashington and, after a month with us, we’re excited to hear their reflections. From racking up ‘Sound Like an Expert’ points to attending new extra-curricular clubs, they really have thrown themselves into school life...

"As I walked through the school gates on the 7th September, I had butterflies in my stomach because the school looked really big and the students so much older. The thought of meeting new people was a little daunting, but I needn’t have worried: the teachers have been lovely, and my year group are really nice. I’ve joined lots of extra-curricular clubs like art and running. Art club allows me to express myself and running improves my fitness and I love the feeling of the wind when I run. I think all of the clubs will be enjoyable for people and that everyone should get involved! I love this school and I am even thinking about Sixth Form already so I can fulfil my dream, of being a Marine Biologist!" Ava - Year 7

"I was a little nervous when I first joined Ashington Academy but, I have to say, my first month has been extraordinary! My classes have been fun, my teachers are very kind and my Year Managers are really supportive and approachable! I’m enjoying playing football every break and lunchtime and making new friends." Zac - Year 7
