Ashington star of the week

We'd like to say a HUGE well done to all of our stars of the week this week. Our staff are so overwhelmed and proud of all your effort and hard work. Let's take a look at who our teachers selected this week...


Iain Condy, Year 9 - For making fantastic verbal contributions and trying really hard on a piece of Viewpoint Writing to show understanding of sentence patterns.

Harry Elliott Turnbull, Year 7 - For demonstrating superb recall of sentence types and using them to create impressive descriptive writing of his own, including sophisticated vocabulary, accurate punctuation and super personification! Well done, Harry - I really enjoyed reading your work.


Ben Donnelly, Year 9 - For showing a consistently outstanding attitude to learning. Always punctual, always keen and has a fabulous work ethic!

William Redpath, Year 7 - For teaching himself how to visualise plans and elevations, using his own Lego during the lesson. Great improvisation and dedication. Well done!


Alex Howard, Year 7 - He is achieving exceptional marks in assessments, always answers challenge questions, does extra research to make lessons more interesting and informative. He is an outstanding student.

Kayleigh Porter, Year 10 - She works well, joins in, and is really good at physics.


Tyler Martin, Year 8 - For great enthusiasm throughout lessons, offering more developed answers in lessons and producing great work in Spanish. 

Jorja Mclean, Year 10 - Exceptional effort in French, producing consistently high-quality work and joining in.  


Charlie and Leah Smith, Year 8 - For their positive attitude and contributions in lessons.

Stacey Burton, Year 11 - For overcoming insurmountable barriers, working over half term to catch up on coursework and making a positive start to her controlled assessment. Really proud!


Jessica Lillico, Year 9 - For consistently completing and submitting work to a high standard and actively engaging in lessons.


Kathryn Bell, Year 11 - Engagement with online lessons has been excellent throughout, answering questions and submitting outstanding work.


Alex Howard, Year 7 - Consistently responding to questions with great answers and pushing on to extension tasks. Fantastic A2L!

Religious studies 

Maya Armstrong, Year 10 - Maya has worked incredibly hard, is always positive and engaged in lessons and is constantly impressing me with her responses.  

Jack Brodie, Year 11 - Jack has just been amazing all the way through remote learning, providing amazing responses every lesson. He is just an absolute star!

Health and social 

Katie Armstrong, Year 9 - For her positive attitude to learning, hard work and excellent contributions in lessons!

Molly Bird, Year 10 - For her consistently positive attitude in lesson and completing all work to an excellent standard. 

Travel and tourism

Jessica Peel, Year 10 - A great improvement in the quality of her work with excellent effort applied to every task this week!


Joshua Wilson, Year 9 - Always tries hard in lessons and is doing really well with his remote learning. 

Chloe Noble, Year 10 - Responding well to Mrs Anderson’s feedback and improving her work to a great standard.  Well done.  


Caitlyn McMahon, Year 7 - Produced some great work and really challenged herself using Photopea!

Ethan Henderson, Year 7 - For producing an excellent karate animation!

Key stage 3 stars

Sophie Warnes and Harry Fish, Year 7 - Consistently working hard in all lessons throughout remote learning and being fully involved in the February Mile a Day Challenge.

Olivia Farrell and Oliver Godfrey, Year 8 - Outstanding effort and application in all subjects throughout online learning.
