This academic year we are super proud to announce and present our new student leadership team and student ambassadors!
The Student Leadership Team are an inspiring group of students who are extremely passionate about promoting and developing the provision for all students, both in and outside the classroom. The team is made up of a Head Boy and a Head Girl, a Deputy Head Boy and a Deputy Head Girl. There are also eight students who lead four different strands: Academic, Sport, Creative and Performing Arts. The vision is to promote and improve the provision that is offered in Ashington Academy, as well as to act as role models to all students in the school. The Student Leadership Team interviewed and appointed Student Ambassadors into one of the four strands to support them with their work and, it’s safe to say, they have started the year with a big bang!
Collectively, the team have been responsible for creating the extra-curricular timetable, based on their knowledge of what students really wanted to see. It’s fair to say that nobody will be disappointed: alongside staff, the team lead over 35 different extra-curricular clubs every week. Their responsibilities do not stop there, however: they have been involved in appointing new staff; talking to future parents; open evenings; assemblies and duties at break and lunch. Over the upcoming months, the team will be running events such as ‘Spelling Bee’, tug of war as well as leading the renowned 12 days of Christmas!
We are so proud of the work that they have done so far and cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the year!
