We all had an absolutely fantastic time celebrating World Book Day last week! Here's a snapshot of some of the things we got up to!

  • Across different subjects, students were taught the value and importance of diverse voices within literature and the impact they have. In music, students created beats inspired by Bob Marley and the genre of Reggae. In History, they looked at a renowned 'top thinker' and the connection between History and English within 'A Christmas Carol'.

  • 24 students from across Key Stage 3, were recognised for their excellent efforts throughout the term in lessons and around school and were invited to the Bistro where they sampled delicious food from around the world, including Jamaican beef patties, gyoza and bao buns! They also competed to 'guess which country the tradition comes from' and the winning team received trophies. Our students received a bag of sweets from around the world, a bookmark and a book to take home.

  • As ever, our staff got into the World Book Day spirit by dressing up in brilliant costumes as literary characters!

  • During break and lunchtime our Year 7 students guessed the famous celebrity based on quotations and hints posted around school!
