It has been another fantastic A level results day at Ashington Academy! This morning we celebrated with our Year 13 students as they opened their envelopes and discovered that all of their hard work had truly paid off.

We are delighted to celebrate a 100% pass rate again with almost half (48%) of all grades achieved being a grade B, equivalent or higher. In fact, 47% of students achieved at least one grade A or A* grade, or equivalent, and 18% achieved an A* grade or equivalent, which is testament to the academic rigour of our sixth form. Overall, students achieved a value added score of +0.14, which means that our students made better progress than national averages.

Many students have now unlocked their next steps, and will be heading off to study a wide range of subjects at universities across the country as well as apprenticeships with a number of companies. Some highlights include:

  • Sofiia who achieved an A* in Maths, A* in Chemistry, and an A in Biology and will go on to study Dentistry at the University of Glasgow.

  • Andrew who will go on to study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield, after achieving an A* in Maths, A in Physics, and an A in Further Maths.

  • Thomas was awarded an A* in Chemistry, A in Maths, and an A in Biology and will go on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield.
