Congratulations to all students who took part in our Ramona and Juliet musical earlier this month.
The amazing show, showcasing the acting talents of our students, along with their fantastic musical ability, saw Shakespeare mixed with modern day life and music to create a brilliant show.
After months of tinkering with ideas and work-shopping scenes, we came up with an idea. What if we adapted Shakespeare and created a musical out of one of his many plays? We decided to look at Romeo and Juliet as the conflict and tragedy contrasted completely with the fun and eccentricities of our show last year, Spamalot.
Ashington was chosen as the setting and 1990s Brit Pop was the musical inspiration. Scenes were improvised leading to the formation of a script in our weekly script writing club and, before we knew it, Ramona and Juliet was born!
A huge well done to all our students who took part. It was a show created by students, using hard work, effort and dedication.
