Our performing arts students are celebrating the first official read through of their new musical 'PaperJam', to be devised and performed by students.
After the success of Ramona and Juliet in February, staff and students were desperate to start the next project as soon as possible. Students wanted to explore a comedy act to show a contrast in styles, drawing inspiration from a range of areas such as classic teen movies, sit-coms and farcical theatre.
PaperJam will tell the story of a new member of staff at Zeus International and the journey she takes navigating overbearing managers, the boys’ club of advertising and the mean-spirited girls in sales - all expertly supported by Ashington Academy’s band.
Mr Carr commented: "This is an extremely ambitious and difficult task being undertaken by the students and staff that we know will showcase the talents of the school."
