Hi, I'm Lorien and I am a member of the Student Leadership Team. Previously, I was an Academic Ambassador and, through these two roles, I have had the opportunity to mentor younger students, take part in exciting activities and join, as well as lead, a range of clubs and activities across the academy.
In believe some of the best things about Ashington Academy are the extra-curricular timetable and the supportive, welcoming environment which have allowed and encouraged me to fulfil my potential and make the most out of my time here. I have tried a variety of clubs in the past four years, and now I attend Maths Challenge, Law, Reading and Debate Club. Participating in these extra-curricular activities has given me the chance to develop some extremely valuable skills, such as communication and problem solving, which I can use later in life, and I strongly recommend that everyone tries some new clubs during their time here at Ashington Academy.
Outside of school, I am also a member of Girlguiding, as a Young Leader at a Rainbow unit and a Ranger. My other hobbies include listening to music, watching films, going out with family and friends, writing stories and reading. Currently, my two favourite books are The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. In the future, I would like to study English at university because of my passion for books and literature, and, for this reason, it is also my favourite subject.
